Municipalities: We Can Sell Online and Ship Your Beach Tags/Badges

Since 1973, Jersey Cape Tags has produced most of the Jersey Shore's beach tags/badges. We are part of the larger Jersey Cape Diagnostic, Training, and Opportunity Center, Inc., which is a 501(c)(3) charitable nonprofit corporation that assists eligible individuals in preparing for and successfully entering the workforce, while also supplementing the region’s innovative and unique economy. The wholesale and production of beach tags/badges helps us to generate revenue and develop job training/work opportunities for individuals of all abilities. In the spring of 2021, we launched a new job training/work program for our program clients where we are actually selling municipal beach tags/badges via our website, fulfilling the orders, and shipping the tags/badges direct to beachgoers. This is an additional work training environment for our clients that mirrors the career opportunities of our community and serves as an intermediate step towards helping them secure their ideal employment outcomes.

We welcome municipalities to jump on board and use this service. There is no added cost to the municipality. Basically, we keep a portion of selected beach tags/badges at our workshop. We list them via our online store and the municipality is free to direct people to a personalized link to buy them. We also supply ads that the municipality is free to use on their website or social media. Beachgoers then buy the tags/badges and we fulfill the orders and ship them. We have a pretty good system going – shipping labels are automatically created by our website which include tracking numbers. Customers buying the tags/badges from our website pay the price of the tag/badge plus a small transaction fee which is 2.9% + $0.30 of the cost of the tag/badge which is used for credit card processing and mailing supplies. Shipping is automatically calculated by USPS at checkout. We send payments to the municipalities for tags/badges sold regularly via check, along with reports on number of tags/badges sold, customers, etc.

Our service comes with multiple benefits for municipalities. It gives them the ability to sell tags/badges earlier and easier, decreasing workload. Customers would have the option to use credit cards and be able to receive the tags/badges ahead of time.

This is just an additional way for beachgoers to buy beach tags/badges with the added benefit that they are shipped direct and able to be bought by credit card. Again, this comes with no added cost to the municipality.
